About the Bishop

Bishop Antonio R. Sewell is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a product of the Atlanta Public School System.  He attended Johnson C. Smith University in North Carolina and Morehouse College in Atlanta where he majored in Mass Communications.  He also attended Carver Bible College in Atlanta where he received a Certificate in Biblical Studies.  Bishop Sewell also completed additional course work at the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta.  He received an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights Bible College where he graduated Cum Laude.

History of New Hope

What began as a weekly prayer meeting resulted in the birth of New Hope Baptist Church in 1927. This humble, yet glorious beginning was under the leadership of Minister D. F. Fuller along with Minister Abraham Walker, Minister W. Taylor, Minister Ed Repress, Minister M. E. Cook and several faithful Deacons. Minister M. E Cook named the church New Hope and Minister D. F.
